The Snow Wolves of northern High Rock are wholly distinct creatures from the similarly-named ice wolves of Skyrim, though many confuse the two. Snow wolves are capable of harnessing frost magic both offensively and defensively, and have been observed freezing hapless prey before consuming it at their leisure. Stories abound speculating upon their origins: where Jephre worship is strong in the north, some believe them to be emanations of the Earthbones themselves; others tell tales of escaped experiments from the days of the Direnni or the first Breton kingdoms. Such scholarly disputes don’t change the fact, however, that for many traveling through the northern kingdoms, the last thing they want to see is a pair of glowing blue eyes looking at them through the swirling snow or out in the darkness during the night.
